Mrs Laura Baynes

Physiotherapist

BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy

I am an experienced physiotherapist, specialising in pelvic health physiotherapy. I am passionate about helping people to recover and achieve their goals, as well as empowering people to invest in their health and wellbeing to optimise their quality of life. In my consultations, I offer a non-judgemental, supportive, collaborative approach and allow plenty of time for sharing and asking questions.

I qualified as a physiotherapist in 2005 and completed my junior rotations in all areas of physiotherapy at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, which gave me a broad understanding and knowledge base, before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I have been at Spire Norwich Hospital since 2015 and have completed a masters module in Advanced Musculoskeletal Assessment and Management at the UEA in this time.

My own pregnancies, births and post-natal recovery reignited a prior interest in pelvic health physiotherapy which has led me to gain training from the POGP (Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynaelogical Physiotherapy) and specialise in this field. At Spire Norwich Hospital, I help rehabilitate women who have undergone urogynecological surgery, such as hysterectomy and prolapse repair. I also assess and treat such conditions as pregnancy-related low back and pelvic girdle pain; post-partum recovery and return to activity; overactive bladder and incontinence; lower bowel dysfunction (including constipation and incontinence); pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain (including bladder pain, coccydynia-tailbone pain and pain during intercourse).

I am qualified to use western medical acupuncture as a treatment option and find this a most useful adjunct in pain management and as a ‘gateway’ to rehabilitation.

I am also a certified menopause practitioner, enabling me to empower women to identify and manage potential health issues associated with menopause such as pelvic floor dysfunction or bone density loss.
