Mr Vikas Malik
MBBS, MS (ENT), DNB (ENT), DOHNS, FRCS (ORL-HNS)
I have a wide range of experience in managing common ENT problems in adults and children*. I have a special interest in managing a variety of ear conditions including hearing and balance problems, tinnitus, chronic discharging ears including cholesteatoma and ear drum perforation. I also have a special interest in children's ear nose and throat problems. In addition to general ENT surgery I also perform mastoidectomies, ossiculoplasty, stapedectomy, surgery for Meniere's disease, bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA) and cosmetic ear surgery. I take time to explain things properly to my patients and I work closely with them to formulate a personalised treatment plan. I strongly believe and always aim to provide safe and high quality patient care.
I graduated from Lucknow University in India and completed a master's in ENT, where I was awarded the best candidate award. I then undertook a further three years training as a senior registrar in Otology and skull base surgery. I immigrated to the UK in 2003 and completed my UK ENT training in North West England and Cambridge. I was awarded a Completion Certificate of Training by the UK Joint Committee on Higher Surgical Training and I am also on the GMC Specialist Register. I have also been awarded the Thomas Wickham Jones Foundation (TWJ) visiting fellowship, the Ethicon visiting fellowship, the Karl Storz skull base fellowship and the Kenneth Bloor travelling fellowship for further training at the Toronto University Hospitals and Causse Ear Clinic in France.
I was awarded a bronze badge for being a quality champion in Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. I have a particular interest in medical education and I often teach and train medical students as well as postgraduates. I am also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University.
