I work as a full time consultant in Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. I have been a consultant since 2002. I currently work in Huddersfield Royal Infirmary and Calderdale Royal Hospital providing upper limb service. My practice includes the full range of problems in hand and wrist, shoulder and elbow. I have developed a particular interest in wrist problems and use the latest facilities in diagnosis and treatment.
I graduated from Calicut University, India in 1985 and underwent initial training in Orthopaedics and Surgery in Trivandrum Medical College, India, obtaining my Diploma in Orthopaedics and Masters degree from Kerala University, India. After completing my FRCS from Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1995, I did my Specialist Registrar training in Orthopaedics in Yorkshire. I was awarded my Intercollegiate Board Examination in Orthopaedics and Trauma surgery in 1999. I developed my interest in upper limb surgery further by working in Wrightington hospital and completed AO fellowship in trauma surgery from Tubingen University Hospital, Germany.
I hold an Honorary Senior Lecturer post in University of Leeds and have responsibility for teaching both undergraduate medical students and postgraduate trainees in orthopaedics. I am a member of the panel of examiners to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as well as the Intercollegiate Board of Examiners in Trauma and Orthopaedics. I lecture regularly in AO courses and am actively involved in teaching and training surgeons, physiotherapists and occupational therapists in the field of hand and wrist surgery. My interest in medical management also saw me complete a degree programme and I was awarded an MBA from Huddersfield University in 2010.
I specialise in arthroscopic wrist and upper limb surgery, carpal and cubital tunnel surgery, Dupuytren's fasciectomy, and hand, wrist and elbow injuries.
