Clinic availability: Monday mornings
I am a Consultant Surgeon based at Broomfield Hospital, where I am the Lead Surgeon for Pelvic Floor Surgery and Surgical Site Infections. My private practice is at Spire Hartswood Hospital, Brentwood in their clean and comfortable private hospital.
My sub-specialty is pelvic floor medicine and I have performed the largest number of robotic sacrocolporectopexy/ventral mesh rectopexy procedures in the country. When I started as consultant, it became apparent to me that to fully manage my pelvic floor patients, I also needed further sub-speciality knowledge in pelvic pain and neurogastroenterology which I sought and gained.
I have been part of the Gastrointestinal Neuromodulator team at Broomfield and manage patients with slow transit constipation and pan-gastrointestinal hypo-motility. I additionally manage patients with severe functional gastrointestinal disorders.
In my practice I receive referrals for complex pelvic floor problems as well as GI motility issues. Over the last few years I have published on robotic surgery, robotic pelvic floor repairs and pruritus ani. I have written a book chapter in the soon to be published reference text book - Surgery of the Anus, Rectum and Colon. I am on the External Affairs Committee of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, and on the Executive Committee of the National Pelvic Floor Society. I am on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Robotic Surgery (lead editor for General Surgery) and am a member of the European Society of Neurogastroenterology.
Operations carried out in last 3 years - 100 Robotic colorectal operations (Pelvic floor repair and cancer); 90 Laparoscopic colorectal operations (Benign and cancer); 100 Laparoscopic Hernia repairs; 300 Colonoscopy.
If you feel your patients have difficulty in managing constipation, obstructive defecation syndrome, faecal incontinence, pelvic pain or prolapse, Pruritis ani, functional gut conditions or a gastrointestinal motility disorder, please feel free to refer and I will be pleased to see them in my weekly clinic at Spire Hartswood.
