Mr Sanjay Vyas
Consultant Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon
I am the senior gynaecologist and gynaecological surgeon at Southmead Hospital, Bristol, where I have been a Consultant for over 20 years. I am also an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol. I trained at King's College Hospital, London and then as a senior registrar in Bristol.
I am the Vice-President and President elect of the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy. The society promotes keyhole surgery in gynaecology by providing education and training. I was elected by my colleagues nationally.
I am the Director of the Southmead Endometriosis Centre, a nationally accredited centre for the treatment of endometriosis. We use key-hole (laparoscopic) surgery for the most complex procedures in the country. These skills also lend themselves to the treatment of other gynaecological conditions with key-hole surgery. These include cysts of the ovary, as well as hysterectomy.
I perform transvaginal ultrasound scans during the consultation. This allows a 'one stop' approach to most gynaecological conditions, as well as providing me with vital information for the discussion of treatment options with patients.
I have written textbooks on ultrasound scans and laparoscopic surgery, and am a nationally recognised teacher on both subjects.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Sanjay Vyas at Spire include:
Gynaecology and/or obstetrics: Endometriosis laparoscopic surgery
Consultant Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic Surgeon, Southmead Hospital, Bristol.
Honorary Senior Lecturer, University of Bristol.
My wife and I enjoy good food and good company and I am under the spell of my two young daughters. I play golf (with an embarrassingly high handicap) and have a private pilot's license.
