Specialises in
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Northern General Hospital, with a private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital. I specialise in hip and knee surgery.
I was born in Sheffield and qualified MBBS at the Middlesex Hospital, London, in 1987. My surgical training was carried out in Sheffield and I did an arthroplasty fellowship in Vancouver, Canada before being appointed consultant at Sheffield.
After House Officer posts in London and Sheffield I did my Basic Surgical Training in Sheffield gaining FRCS(Eng) in 1991. I did my Higher Surgical Training in Orthopaedics on the North Trent Training Scheme gaining my FRCS(Orth) in 1996. In order to pursue my interest in hip and knee arthroplasty I was a Clinical Fellow in the world renowned unit in Vancouver, Canada, supported by the John Charnley Trust from 1997 to 1998.
I have been a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Lower Limb Arthroplasty Unit at the Northern General Hospital since 1998. In common with the other members of the Unit, my clinical work almost exclusively involves primary and revision arthroplasty of the hip and knee with a special interest in complex cases including those involving infection and massive bone loss.
I am an active member of the British Hip Society and Clinical Lead for the Northern General Hospital Bone Bank.
