I have a general neurosurgical practice including subarachnoid haemorrhage, head injuries, tumours and spinal disease.My interests are in spinal disease, particularly lumbar spine, microdiscectomy and artificial cervical discs; and also in the management of various types of hydrocephalus.I have been a college examiner and question setter for the FRCS (Neurosurgery) exam and am currently secretary of the Intercollegiate Surgical Board in Neurosurgery (ISBN).I am director of my own medical instrument, device and design company, Neurodesign, www.neurosurgical-training-simulator.com. I have designed a set of surgical instruments for implanting artificial cervical discs as well as a unique craniotomy simulator for teaching neurosurgical techniques which is used at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham and in a number of teaching hospitals across the UK.
