Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr N D Rothnie at Spire include:
Breast care: benign breast problems, breast cancer
General surgery: breast surgery
I qualified from St Bartholomew's Hospital in London in 1981 and was awarded the Bentley Prize for House Officers. I undertook postgraduate surgical training in a number of London Hospitals and carried out cancer research at Bristol Royal Infirmary and The Royal Free Hospital, London. This led to the award of a Master of Surgery Degree from the University of London. I was a Senior Registrar at St Bartholomew's Hospital prior to my appointment as a Consultant General Surgeon to Southend University Hospital NHS Trust in 1994.
I established the specialist breast unit at Southend Hospital and developed the 'open access' hernia service. I am the Director of Screening for South Essex Breast Screening Service and lead clinician for breast services. For the last eleven years I have acted as Quality Assurance surgeon for the NHS Breast Screening Programme in both the London and Eastern regions. I serve on the Executive of the National Committee of the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) at BASO. I am Chairman of the ABS at BASO National Screening Audit Group.
I also provide a one-stop breast clinic service at Spire Wellesley Hospital for those who have concerns regarding their breast health.
I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GP's letter of referral.
