Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Mohammed Belal at Spire include:
Following obtaining a degree in medicine from Cambridge University in 1998, I trained at Oxford and the Bristol Urological Institute. I completed higher surgical training at several nationally renowned centres of excellence, including Guy's Hospital, London and the Bristol Urological Institute. I gained an additional year long international surgical fellowship of higher surgical training in Melbourne, Australia.
I have been a consultant Urologist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham since 2011. My clinical interest is the bladder including treatment of incontinence, voiding issues, bladder pain and complex reconstruction surgery.
I am one of the few consultant urologists who perform the autologous pubovaginal slings, the alternative solution to TVT treatment. I have medical material published and am the course director of an internationally recognised urodynamics course, as well as being the regional lead for sacral neuromodulation, a new and effective approach for a range of different bladder problems. I am one of the largest implanters of the artificial urinary sphincters in the UK.
I am committed to finding solutions for patients with complex problems whose previous treatment may not have worked and I welcome patients who wish to obtain a second opinion. I am part of the nationally recognised mesh removal service for the West Midlands.
In addition, I am an examiner and medical school interviewer at the University of Birmingham.
