I am a specialist Colorectal Surgeon in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh. A graduate of University College Dublin, I spent time as a Research Fellow in Cornell University, New York before commencing higher surgical training in Edinburgh in 2002. Following completion of a specialist surgical fellowship at the renowned Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney, I was appointed as a consultant colorectal surgeon in Gartnavel General Hospital, Glasgow in 2009.
I was appointed to my current post in 2014. I have extensive experience in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and an established reputation for the management of locally advanced pelvic cancers; I also receive referrals from throughout Scotland and abroad.
I work in Spire Shawfair Park's endoscopy suite which holds JAG accreditation.

Special Clinical Interests: My interests include diagnostic and interventional colonoscopy, all aspects of coloproctology including treatment of fistulas, fissures, pilonidal sinus and haemorrhoids (HALO procedure), laparoscopic colorectal surgery, surgical management of inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease and colorectal cancer. I am recognised nationally for my expertise in the management of locally advanced rectal cancer and advanced pelvic malignancy. My practice also includes hernia repair and minor surgical procedures.
