Mr Michael Armstrong

I graduated from Edinburgh University Medical School in 1986. My pre-registration year was completed in general surgery under the Queen's Surgeon in Edinburgh and in respiratory medicine. Thereafter I qualified in general surgery before resuming my training in ENT Surgery at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital in London.
I returned to Edinburgh to complete my training. As a Registrar I developed a service for the diagnosis and treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea. I also trained in New York under Professor Blitzer to set up a national clinic in the treatment of head and neck movement disorders with botox, which was the first of its kind in Scotland and second in the UK.
I was subsequently appointed as a Consultant Otorhinolaryngologist in 2000 and practice in the Borders and Edinburgh.
I have provided an ENT private practice for adults at Spire Murrayfield Hospital since 2001.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Michael Armstrong at Spire include:
Ear Nose and Throat (ENT)
Rhinology. Snoring / Obstructive sleep apnoea. Laryngeal dystonia. Head and neck movement disorders.
Consultant ENT Surgeon, Borders General Hospital, Melrose.
Consultant ENT Surgeon, Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.
Consultant ENT Surgeon, St John's Hospital, Livingston.
I enjoy people. I enjoy meeting patients and providing them with the information that they need to allow them to make the right decisions about the most appropriate treatment for them. I have a wife and four young children, which occupy my free time and are a source of joy.
