Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Jonathan Ramsay at Spire include:
I have been a Consultant Urologist at Hammersmith, Charing Cross and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals since 1988. I work closely with the fertility units, both at Hammersmith and Chelsea, and am also a visiting urologist to fertility clinics in Bucks, Sussex, and Central london. Research interests and publications include methods and outcomes of sperm retrieval, vasectomy reversal and the genetic causes of infertility. Men with presumed fertility problems require individual care, diagnosis and advice, otherwise they feel abandoned by the doctors who can do so much for their partners, and sometimes they feel guilty that there seems to be so little they can do to help the situation. My practice in men's fertility aims to answer three important questions. Firstly, is there a 'male factor' problem? Secondly, can we diagnose a cause? Thirdly, can we offer straight-forward (evidence-based) treatment? We would normally aim to answer these questions in 2 or 3 consultations. So that both partners may be present, appointments can be made in the evenings and on a Saturday morning at the Spire Thames Valley Hospital, where close liaison with gynaecologists also specialising in fertility treatment is possible.

I have been fortunate to have been able to develop a large practice in male fertility over the past 20 years. In 2007, 500 new patients were referred and 200 had a surgical procedure. Human Fertility encompasses biology, emotion and psychology, and I enjoy trying to attend to every aspect of each couple's hopes and even disappointments. All of this is against a background of a happy family life with twin sons and a daughter, and my wife Cilla, all of whom remind me how lucky we have been in the biological lottery.Back to top
