Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr James Kellerman at Spire include:
Neck pain, Degenerative spine, Back pain, Lumbar spine disorders, Spinal surgery, Pain management
I am a consultant neurosurgeon at Spire Hartswood private hospital in Brentwood, Essex, offering private spinal and neurosurgery in our clean and comfortable private hospital.
I qualified in 1976 from The London (now the Royal London) Hospital in Whitechapel, London. I did an honours degree in pharmacology and psycho-pharmacology as a part of my pre-clinical training. After neurosurgery training at Guys, King's College and the Brook Hospitals in London, I was accredited as specialist neurosurgeon. My first consultant appointment was at the North East Thames Neurosurgical Unit at Oldchurch Hospital. This unit was one of the busiest units in London and had a major training role for young surgeons.
I am one of the few fully private neurosurgeons in Essex. I manage a wide range of neurological problems: trauma, tumour, vascular and spinal. My private spinal surgery practice is based upon a conservative approach and minimal intervention for degenerative conditions. I aim to maximise pain relief and minimise time spent in hospital.
Since 2002 I have worked solely in private practice, developing my interests in conservative spinal surgery and the management of patients with chronic pain. I believe that most spinal complaints can be treated without surgery. One of my axioms is that 'diagnosis should precede treatment' and appropriate investigations are always completed before any treatment is contemplated.
For patients. who would clearly benefit from surgery, I offer evidence-based microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques.
