I have been a consultant since 1999 and am currently head of ENT surgery at Southend University Hospital. Nationally, I am the Royal College of Surgeons Regional Specialty Advisor and a member of the Surgical Advisory Committee (SAC) for ENT. I also sit on the Council for Laryngology and Rhinology at the Royal Society for Medicine. I trained in ENT surgery in Oxford and London, including training in head and neck cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital. I then went on to do a fellowship in Australia, where I gained considerable experience in the management of complex, chronic ear disease. Therefore I have considerable expertise in the diagnosis and management of both head and neck cancer and ear disease. I was clinical lead for head and neck cancer services in South Essex from 2000-08 and have performed over 400 major ear/mastoid operations.
I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GP's letter of referral.

I have an interest in art, including art history. Through this I enjoy travel and have attempted to learn Italian. I have two daughters, so when family commitments allow, I enjoy playing golf and watching football. As a life-long Aberdeen supporter I try to get to Pittodrie at least once a year, but I am able to go to Roots Hall more regularly. I also enjoy music and play the guitar for relaxation.Back to top
