Working at Wirral University Hospital NHS trust over 8 years as a Consultant has let me obtain a experience in general ophthalmology, dealing with retinal diseases both medical and surgical, offering solution in complex conditions, teaching, and surgical training of fellows and registrars.
My current practice includes providing solutions in general ophthalmic conditions, retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, macular degeneration, glaucoma, vitreoretinal diseases, and cataract including complex conditions. The solutions come in the form of advice, treatment including laser, injections and surgery including complete counseling about the conditions being treated for.
I also participate in public health ophthalmology programs, which takes me to countries where ophthalmology services are limited. This has made me acutely aware of the care I provide to patients in the UK.
I have lead the diabetic eye screening programme on the Wirral since 2009 and participate in raising awareness locally, nationally and internationally.
I participate in auditing my work regularly, get appraised every year, present at local, national and international meetings. I have several peer reviewed publications as well.
My interest is to reduce blindness and where possible let patients enjoy their eyesight and retain independence through a safe and quality assured means.

Over the last few years I have developed interest in running and have completed several half marathons and also a full marathon in May 2013. I have been fortunate to use these for fundraising for work done by NGOs on the Wirral and Overseas. I hope to encourage more people to exercise and make it a way of life.
I presently am working with NGOs to reduce the burden of preventable blindness in the world and this has taken me to countries like Myanmar, Kenya, India etc. I am educating myself with the skills required to do this better on a continuous basis.
I am also an avid cook and love trying different cuisines. I enjoy travelling and experience different cultures personally as there are always a lot to see and learn.Back to top
