Professional profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary and Spire Manchester Hospital. I have treated orthopaedic and trauma cases since 1985 and have consulted at the Manchester Royal Infirmary since 1994. I specialise in sports trauma, soft tissue tumours and joint replacements. To date, I have performed over 2000 knee and hip replacements, over 3000 tumours, over 15,000 keyhole procedures and over 10,000 trauma cases. I have been the Club Orthopaedic Surgeon at Manchester United for 18 years.

I am currently the lead Sarcoma Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

I was the Chairman of the clinical governance committee at Manchester Royal Infirmary until 2005 and I was previously the lead Orthopaedic Surgeon at Central Manchester Foundation Trust and the STC representative. I was also the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) at Spire Manchester Hospital.

I have published several orthopaedic and trauma papers and I am interested in teaching and training junior surgeons. I am also an honorary clinical lecturer in orthopaedics and trauma at the University of Manchester.
