I have been a consultant surgeon for 18 years and am highly experienced in all aspects of benign and malignant diseases of the upper gastro-intestinal tract with the exception of bariatric surgery.
I trained for 12 years with 4 years as a senior registrar and a further year spent as a sabbatical in Hong Kong learning oesophago-gastric and hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery before my appointment as a Consultant. I have carried major pancreatic resections for 8 years. I have carried out major cancer surgery of the oesophagus and stomach for 7 years.
I specialise in elective and emergency general surgery. I have a special interest in open and minimal access upper-gastro-intestinal, biliary, abdominal wall & groin hernia surgery, antireflux/hiatal hernia as well as laparoscopy splenectomy & lymph node surgery. I am a highly experienced endoscopist.
My extensive experience in oesophageal/stomach & pancreatic surgery allows me to be a key opinion leader.
I perform between 100-120 laparoscopic gall bladder operations per year. To date, I have carried out over 2,000 gall bladder operations in both my NHS and private practice.
Regularly, I carry out laparoscopic and open groin & abdominal wall hernia surgery as well as anti-reflux/hiatal hernia and splenectomy surgery.
