Mr Allon Barsam
Consultant Ophthalmologist
MA MB BS FRCOphth
Specialises in
I am one of only a handful of consultant surgeons in the UK who is fellowship trained in cornea, cataract and laser vision correction. I see patients with cataracts or corneal disease as well as any patients who would like to see clearly without the need for contact lenses or glasses. I take time to explain all of the treatment options currently available and take into account every patient's individual visual preferences and needs.
My world-class training from both sides of the Atlantic allows me to offer my patients some of the best treatment available anywhere in the world.
I went to Cambridge University and University College London Medical Schools where I graduated with Honours and a Distinction in Surgery. I completed my residency training at Moorfields Eye Hospital and went on to complete a one year fellowship in New York where I worked closely with two of the US founding fathers of modern Cornea and Refractive Surgery. I followed this with an additional Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the Western Eye Hospital in London.
I have published over 30 peer review publications, six book chapters and am the co-author of a comprehensive textbook on Ophthalmology. I am an invited reviewer for the major international journals in my field. I am a member of the editorial board for Cataract and Refractive Surgery Today Europe.
I have been a clinical examiner and lecturer for City University, School of Optometry. I am the lead instructor for a video based instructional course in refractive anterior segment surgery at both the American and European Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. I am regularly invited to speak, chair and moderate research sessions nationally and internationally.
