Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Ahmed Al-Bahrani at Spire include:
After completing the basic surgical training in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, I was involved in a two year research project at University of Manchester and was awarded MD degree from same University. My higher surgical training was at Eastern Deanery where I worked at West Herts Hospitals, Luton & Dunstable hospital, Ipswich hospital and my final year was in the oesophago-gastric cancer centre at Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge.
After I obtained the CCT, I worked as senior post-CCT registrar in oesophago-gastric cancer centre at Broomfield hospital. I have trained comprehensively in both benign and malignant upper GI surgery (both open and laparoscopic), HPB surgery, hernia surgery (open/laparoscopic).
Since January 2011, I was appointed as consultant upper GI (oesophago-gastric cancer resection) surgeon at both West Herts and East & North Herts Hospital (permanent post) within the Mount Vernon Cancer Network. In addition, I also perform open and laparoscopic surgery for benign upper GI conditions (anti-reflux, achalasia, hiatus hernia and paraoesophageal hernia), biliary surgery, hernia surgery and other gastrointestinal surgery.
I have a lead role in the newly introduced enhanced recovery programme for upper gastrointestinal cases at Watford General Hospital, which will speed up the patient journey and ensure safe uneventful recovery following major resection surgery.
