Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Stuart Wilkinson at Spire include:
I graduated from Leicester University in 2003 and trained in paediatrics and respiratory medicine throughout the North in Stoke-on-Trent, Liverpool (Alder Hey) and Sheffield Children’s hospital, before completing my sub-specialty respiratory paediatric training in Leicester. I spent 2 years as a cystic fibrosis clinical fellow researching fungal disease in cystic fibrosis before taking a consultants post at RMCH in 2014.
My specialist interests cover all aspects of paediatric respiratory medicine, mainly looking after children with asthma and other atopy, chronic cough and recurrent infections of both the upper and lower respiratory tract. I also manage children with sleep disordered breathing.
My clinical work mainly relates to seeing patients in clinic and carrying out appropriate blood tests, radiological investigations, lung function tests before treating patients. I also perform flexible fibreoptic bronchoscopy on children in theatres under a general anaesthetic. This is for diagnostic purposes and can be required for some children with undiagnosed respiratory complaints. I perform on average 40-50 bronchoscopies per year.
I practice at Spire Manchester Hospital as well as their clinic in Hale, Cheshire.

I moved to Manchester in 2014 and we have two young children who keep us busy. We enjoy spending time with friends and family and visiting local parks, farms, historical sites and outdoor attractions. I also enjoy keeping fit and regularly play squash.Back to top
