Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I work both in NHS and private sector and specialise in the treatment of painful musculoskeletal conditions such as back pain, neck pain, spinal stenosis, sciatica, facet joint pain, sacroiliac joint pains, coccydynia, myofascial pain, widespread pain, fibromyalgia syndrome, chronic abdominal pain, pelvic pain and chronic pain after surgery.
I have a special interest in pain arising from degenerative joint disorder, including shoulder osteoarthritis, knee, hip osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. I specialise in the radiofrequency treatment of genicular nerves and peripheral nerves to reduce the pain arising from the painful joints.
My clinical experience includes assessing 1,100 plus patients in the clinic each year and I perform over 500 injections annually. I am qualified in both ultrasound guided pain injections and x-ray guided interventional pain procedures. In addition to detailed medical assessment I offer treatments like medications, nerve block injections and cooled and conventional radiofrequency treatment.
Use of ultrasound improves accurate target locations and the effectiveness of injections, it also reduces the rate of the complications associated with the procedure. I am proficient in ultrasound guided injection for various pains including joint pains, migraines, tension and occipital headaches, pelvic pain, neuropathic pain (nerve pain), chronic pain after surgery and complex regional pain syndrome. I also specialise in the use of ultrasound guided radiofrequency treatment for various chronic pain conditions to prolong the duration of pain relief offered by nerve blocks.
I graduated from India in 2001 and completed my training in anaesthesia and received my Fellowship in Anaesthesia from the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2009. I then completed my advance pain fellowship with specialist qualification in pain management from Faculty of Pain Medicine, Royal College of Anaesthetists, United Kingdom and was awarded my Fellowship of Faculty of Pain Medicine examination (FFPMRCA). To enhance my experience in interventional pain medicine I completed a fellowship program from the University Health Network, University of Toronto, Canada.
I am the first doctor in the United Kingdom to achieve the Certified Interventional Pain Sonology qualification (CIPS) conducted by the World Institute of Pain. I am also a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). In addition I have also authored journal articles, book chapters and abstracts and spoken at numerous national and international lectures.
My goal is to help patients with long standing pain to manage their pain and to improve their function and quality of life using a bio-psycho-social approach. I thrive to achieve this goal through the application of my extensive knowledge and skills in acute and chronic pain.
