Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Natalie Direkze at Spire include:
I was educated at North London Collegiate school before completing an undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. During this course I realised that my interests lay in the medical specialities and chose to study medicine at St Mary's Hospital (Imperial College, London). Following junior medical posts in London I was appointed to the North West London gastroenterology training programme in 1999. I completed a PhD in adult stem cell biology at Cancer Research UK in 2006 (Imperial College) prior to taking up a post as clinical lecturer at Barts and the London NHS Trust from 2007 to 2009. I was appointed to Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation trust as a consultant gastroenterologist and general physician in 2009.
I have an interest in luminal gastroenterology. I have a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease and also upper gastro intestinal disorders. I have developed an interest in Barretts oesophagus and the newer treatments available for this such as radio-frequency ablation. I also have a keen interest in endoscopy and performs endoscopy, colonoscopy and capsule endoscopy. I also see patients with other gastrointestinal symptoms and disorders such as change in bowel habit, anaemia, reflux symptoms and gastrointestinal bleeding.
