Dr Michael Rowlands
I qualified in 1981 and spent my professional life studying and practising psychiatry. I was lecturer in psychological medicine at the Medical College of St Bartholomew's Hospital in London and subsequently became a Consultant Psychiatrist based in Redhill. I left the Health Service in 1995 and have practised exclusively in Private Practice since that time. I therefore have had long experience of understanding and treating psychological problems. I work with a network of well qualified therapists who undertake a range of psychological therapies such as CBT and EMDR. I would be able to pre-authorise, for insurance company purposes, therapy if it is appropriate.
I have a specific interest in the misuse of alcohol, but the main areas of my work are anxiety disorders and particularly psychological problems following difficulties at work.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Michael Rowlands at Spire include:
Work related stress, anxiety disorders, especially panic attacks, alcohol misuse, depression, bipolar disorder.
I like to think that keeping a proper work life balance with plenty of exercise is the secret of good health. My main hobby is gardening and visiting gardens with the Natural Gardens Scheme. I am a keen photographer and I like reading and reviewing books (see my Amazon reviews).
