I qualified in medicine from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1990 and trained in general medicine (gaining MRCP in 1993) and radiology (gaining FRCR in 1997).

After a Cook Fellowship training in vertebroplasty in Strasbourg, I was appointed Consultant Radiologist at Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals in 2002 with a special interest in musculoskeletal imaging.
