Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Frances Yuille at Spire include:
Since 2001 I have been a Consultant in the Edinburgh Cancer Centre, specialising in chemotherapy and radiotherapy for breast cancer patients, radiotherapy for lymphoma patients and delivering the radiotherapy for children who have paediatric cancer, in the east of Scotland. My main NHS breast cancer practice is at St John's Hospital, Livingston, although I also contribute to the Edinburgh Breast Unit.
Born in Zimbabwe, I trained at St Bartholomew's Medical School in London. Having graduated in 1987, I worked in numerous hospitals in the south of England. Having completed membership of the Royal College of Physicians, I moved to Scotland to train in oncology at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre.
Further oncology training was gained at the Northern Centre for Cancer Treatment in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and I was a lecturer in Glasgow at the Beatson Oncology Centre. My first consultant post was in Glasgow specialising in breast cancer.
Special Clinical Interests: Breast Cancer – treatment of early breast cancer after initial surgery. This includes being involved in the weekly Multi-disciplinary meetings at Spire Murrayfield and once surgery is complete advising on chemotherapy, radiotherapy and adjuvant hormone treatment. These treatments do have side effects and I am experienced in giving advice regarding theses symptoms and making decisions regarding ongoing management - treatment of advanced breast cancer. This includes management of metastatic breast cancer with chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone treatment. The side effects of this disease and the treatments need close management and expertise.
