I am a General Neurologist with interest in headache disorders. I have pioneered the treatment with Botox® in the UK and have > 30 years' experience in diagnosing and treating headache disorders. I have co-authored the British Association for the Study of Headache guidelines on headache disorders (2019) and have contributed to the NICE guidelines on headache in adolescents and adults -CG150 (2015). I have been a trustee of the Migraine Trust (2010-2022) and currently their ambassador. I also advise the Association of British Neurologists on headache disorders since 2015. I organise a national meeting on headache disorders in Hull every other year since 2005. I have lectured around the globe on headache disorders and have assisted many countries in establishing and setting up the headache services.
I have particular expertise in the injection treatments for headache disorders including the nerve block and Botox® injections. I also have expertise in the use of neuro-modulation (non-invasive) in headache disorders.
I have treated more than 5,000 patients with Botulinum toxin for chronic migraine and have delivered more than 20,000 treatment cycles. I have performed more than 10,000 nerve blocks on headache patients.
I have published 83 original peer reviewed articles in leading neurology and headache journals. I peer review for cephalalgia, The Journal of Headache and Pain, European Journal of Neurology and Journal of Clinical Medicine. I am an international examiner for the MRCP UK PACES examination.
