I am an experienced Gastroenterologist, who has been practising at Spire Fylde Coast Hospital since 1993. I have extensive experience in all aspects of endoscopy, particularly therapeutic endoscopy including ERCP which I have performed since 1984.
I qualified from Manchester University in 1980 after pre-clinical training at St Andrews University. I trained in Manchester Teaching Hospitals up to and including registrar level. I completed a two year period in research with Professor Sir Leslie Turberg at Hope Hospital culminating in an MD with a thesis on Gastroduodenal Mucosal Defence. I then moved to Birmingham as a Lecturer in Medicine and Honorary Senior Registrar in 1988 spending five years working in the Birmingham Hepatology and Liver Transplant and Professional Medical Unit. I was then appointed Consultant Physician with an interest in Gastroenterology to Blackpool Hospitals in 1993.
