I am an experienced Gastroenterologist dealing with the diagnosis and treatment of upper, mid and lower gut disorders. I am particularly interested in the diagnosis of gut conditions and the subsequent management of conditions such as: reflux and ulcer disease, inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease), irritable bowel syndrome and gastrointestinal cancers. My practice at Spire Leicester Hospital is designed to allow patients adequate time and opportunity to fully explore their problem. We have excellent diagnostic facilities with expert gastrointestinal radiologists and pathologists. Our endoscopy equipment is up to date and allows me to perform endoscopy or colonoscopy on appropriate patients with or without sedation or even with a general anaesthetic. My initial medical degree was from St Mary's Hospital Medical School (now part of Imperial College), University of London. My gastroenterology training was carried in the Midlands and then in Leeds at both The Leeds General Infirmary and The University Department of Medicine, St James's University Hospital. Here I was awarded my Doctorate of Medicine for my gastrointestinal research.I was appointed as a Consultant to The Leicester Royal Infirmary in 1990 and have worked in The University Hospitals of Leicester ever since as a Clinical Gastroenterologist based at Leicester Royal Infirmary but also with clinics and endoscopy at Hinckley and District Hospital. In addition I was Clinical Director of Medicine, Royal College of Physicians Regional Adviser and visiting Gastroenterologist for Gibraltar.
