Dr de Silva trained in Gastroenterology and general medicine in the Northeast Thames training region, having studied medicine at University College London. His research was based at the Digestive Diseases Research Centre at Queen Mary University of London, studying the effects of iron on bowel inflammation. His sub-specialist interests include inflammatory bowel diseases, colonoscopy and ERCP.
