I have been a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Manchester Royal Infirmary since 1988, specialising in pancreato biliary diseases and interventional endoscopy. I also have an expertise in the management of complex inflammatory bowel disease using a wide range of immunosuppression and biological therapy. I perform a wide range of therapeutic endoscopic procedures including ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound. I am also a registered bowel cancer screening colonoscopist. I regularly see patients with complex pancreatic disease and have a particular interest in recurrent acute and chronic pancreatitis.

I see new patients with general gastroenterological complaints including: reflux and indigestion, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation, IBS, iron deficiency anaemia and rectal bleeding. I also have significant experience in the management of inflammatory bowel disease, both ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease; and I regularly see patients suffering from pancreatitis (both recurrent acute and chronic) and gallstone disease. I have expertise in general hepatology including: abnormal function tests, liver disease, cirrhosis and portal hypertension.

I perform the following procedures: sigmoidoscopy, ERCP, colonoscopy including polypectomy and EMR and gastroscopy including dilatation, peg insertion and therapy for bleeding. In addition to EUS - cancer staging, FNA, cyst drainage and necrosectomy.

I am a member of the regional HPB MDT based at Manchester Royal Infirmary which manages the majority of HPB cancers in Greater Manchester.
