Podiatry is the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of foot and lower limb conditions, many of which can be caused by general health conditions.
Our consultant podiatrist, Mr Andrew James is a musculoskeletal specialist with a special interest in orthotic therapy.
After a successful NHS career (1994-2001), Mr James has worked exclusively in the private sector for the last 15 years. During this time he has been involved with the highest level of sport having worked extensively with the Welsh Rugby Union, The ECB, Premier League football clubs, SportWales and the sports brand Puma.
In addition to this Mr James has been working as consultant to the Emirates Airline in Dubai.
As well as running the foot clinic at Spire Cardiff Hospital, Mr James is a regular guest lecturer on a number of MSc Programmes.
What to expect
Our podiatrist is an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team working closely with orthopaedic surgeons, sports physicians, radiologists and physiotherapists.
During his clinics Mr James will often use the latest in plantar pressure measurement technology to help assess, diagnose and develop treatment plans for conditions such as:
Knee pain • Ankle pain • Plantar fasciitis • Painful bunions • Heel pain • Adult and paediatric flat foot deformity
Mr James is also able to perform the removal of ingrown toe nails under local anaesthesia.
The cost of a treatment will range from £55 - £220 depending on the condition and treatment plan.
