I was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Wirral NHS Trust in 1994 and I continue in active clinical practice. I did overseas fellowships in Melbourne, Australia and Seattle, USA. My main specialist interest is in surgery of the knee. I am one of the highest volume knee replacement surgeons in the UK, both primary and revision. In 2010 I was voted by my peers as one of the top 10 UK knee arthroplasty surgeons in a Daily Mail poll.

I have a specialist interest in revision knee replacement including the treatment of infection. Over the last 10 years I have pioneered a single stage revision technique for the infected knee replacement called a "2 in 1". I also perform large numbers of knee arthroscopies and ligament reconstructions. I perform over 100 primary hip replacements per annum.

I have served on the executive of BASK (British Association for Surgery of the Knee) since 2006. I review papers for the BJJ and have served on the Professional Practice Committee of the British Orthopaedic Association. I undertake medico-legal work, both personal injury and medical negligence.

I was the clinical director of the Orthopaedic Directorate of Wirral NHS Trust between 2004 and 2009.
