Jerry Ryan is a Consultant Maxillofacial Surgeon based at Sunderland Royal Hospital. He qualified in 1985 and was appointed to his current post at Sunderland Royal Hospital in September 1993. He trained on the Merseyside rotation, Queen Mary's University Hospital and Guys Hospital. During his training he completed attachments at The Mayo Clinic Rochester Minnesota, The University Hospital of Minnesota and The Kenyetta Hospital in Nairobi.
He specialises in facial plastic surgery and the management of facial skin cancer. He is a member of the Northern Skin Cancer Sub-group and a member of the Durham specialist skin MDT.
He lectures on surgical and non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as fillers and anti-wrinkle injections, also skin cancer management and other aspects of facial deformity and cosmetic procedures.
Non-surgical treatment performed is Obagi peels, fillers and anti-wrinkle injections. The surgical procedures performed include blepharoplasties, chin surgery, rhinoplasties, facelifts, pinnaplasties, brow lifts, scar revision, skeletal facial deformities and fat transfer to the head and neck region. He is also a fellow of the European academy of facial plastic surgery and fellow of the British Association of oral and maxillofacial surgery. He is also an inter speciality member of BAPRAS.
