I qualified from Punjab University, Pakistan, in 1988 and, after preliminary training in medicine and gastroenterology, moved to Great Britain.
I am fully accredited by the Joint Committee of Higher Medical Training (JCHMT) and was awarded CCST (General Medicine and Gastroenterology) in November 2000. My name was entered on the specialist register in November 2000. My specialist registrar training was in the Yorkshire region (Hull/Bradford/Leeds rotation), during which I worked with Professor J Bennett and Professor Anthony Axon. I also spent some time with Professor Nib Soehendra at Hamburg University Hospital, Germany on a Paul Brown Travelling Fellowship awarded by Endoscopy Committee of BSG.
I spent 2 years 3 months doing full-time research (laboratory and clinical based) at Leeds General Infirmary with Dr S O'Mahoney and Professor Peter Grant on venous thrombotic risk factors in inflammatory bowel disease, helicobacter pylori, lymphocytic gastritis and push enteroscopy.
My main interests are therapeutic endoscopy (ERCP), colonoscopy, endoscopic mucosal resection, chromoendoscopy, push enteroscopy, endoscopic haemostatic techniques for variceal and non-variceal upper GI haemorrhage) and inflammatory bowel diseases.
Please feel free to discuss any case (straight-forward or complicated) with me at any time.
I am available for private consultation at Spire Washington Hospital.
