I studied medicine at Westminster Medical School qualifying in 1986. I spent three years in research in the department of academic rheumatology at St Georges Hospital Medical School, London. l was trained in both rheumatology and acute internal medicines by the South Thames Regional Training Scheme. I was awarded a certificate of specialist accreditation in both rheumatology and internal medicine in 2000.

I was appointed as a consultant rheumatologist and physician in 2000, at the East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust. I have a large NHS commitment to the north of East Sussex with up to eight clinics per month in Uckfield and Crowborough.
