New endometriosis centre

New endometriosis centre at Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital

The Kent Endometriosis Centre (Kendoc) is a centre of excellence for the treatment of endometriosis at Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

The Kendoc team offers a pro-active and positive step towards an understanding of endometriosis in its entirety, treating women with respect, dignity and offering access to a variety of treatment opportunities. The team believes that women with endometriosis have specific needs and deserve specialist care and support throughout their diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management.

The endometrium is the tissue that lines the inside of the uterus (womb). Endometriosis is a condition where endometrial tissue is found anywhere outside the inner lining of the uterus. It is 'trapped' in the pelvic area and lower abdomen, and tissue can even be found in the bowel and bladder. Like the lining of the uterus, the endometrium grows under the influence of the major female hormone oestrogen. Endometriosis can also be found in other areas such as the skin and lungs resulting in cyclical bleeding.

At Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital you will be seen by a highly skilled, experienced consultant gynaecologist. We provide a holistic approach to the care and management of women with endometriosis with commitment, passion, professional excellence and care of the highest quality. The team is led by consultant gynaecologists Mr Oliver Chappatte and Mr Simon Edmonds.

Treatment of endometriosis is usually covered by private medical insurance. So, if you’re insured, either with BUPA, AXA PPP healthcare or another major medical insurance company, contact your insurer to ask whether you’re covered for the treatment or tests you need. If you don’t have medical cover, you can pay for one-off private treatment using Spire Healthcare’s Inclusive Care scheme.
