Trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery, my practice is now solely based around adult cardiac surgery. I am widely experienced in all forms of adult cardiac surgery and I have performed over 2,500 major heart operations.

My specific specialist interests are aortic surgery and minimally-invasive (keyhole) surgery for atrial fibrillation, in which I am one of the pioneers of this technique in the UK. I also perform coronary artery bypass surgery and all forms of heart valve surgery. Working well as part of a cohesive network of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons and anaesthetists in Sussex, I believe that the team approach is fundamental to best patient care.

I am originally from London, but have worked as a surgeon in a variety of cardiac units in London and the West Midlands. I am involved in a large number of non-clinical roles concerning cardiac surgery in the UK, and sit on several national committees. I also have a long-term commitment to teaching and education in the specialty, having held central roles in UK training.
