I trained in Medicine in the University of Dundee qualifying as a doctor in 1985. Over the next 3 years I worked in professorial units in teaching hospitals doing general medicine. In 1988 I began my Dermatology training and was appointed consultant Dermatologist at Amersham Hospital in 1995. Since May I have held consultant posts in Oxford and Hillingdon/Mount Vernon.
I have been in private practice since 1995 practising in general dermatology, laser therapy and cosmetic dermatology. Unusually in UK private practice, I work within a team; each playing to its clinical strengths and between us we cover the whole range of specialist dermatology. I am one of a 5 UK photodermatology specialists routinely investigating and managing sun allergy. Whilst seeing a wide variety of dermatological problems in general clinics, I have a particular interest in the management of recalcitrant eczema and hirsutism and in the use of light for skin cancer (PDT) and other inflammatory dermatoses, lasers for all manner of medical and aesthetic problems and cosmetic dermatology in general including; botox, fillers, microsclerotherapy for thread veins and rejuvenation.
My team and I are fortunate to have the support in private practice of dedicated specialist dermatology nurses, a dietician specialising in skin Allergy and a clinical psychologist, which makes for integrated comprehensive and seamless care. Our practice philosophy is to achieve excellence in all we do, and to specialise or work in partnership with other nationally recognised specialists.
