Spire Thames Valley Hospital in Buckinghamshire is part of Spire Fertility. We offer fertility tests and fertility treatments in conjunction with Spire Fertility's London treatment site, The London Fertility Centre, one of the UK’s most established HFEA-licensed fertility centres.

Through this collaboration, patients can enjoy the convenience of having initial consultations and investigations with their chosen fertility consultant at the local Spire Thames Valley Hospital. The initial stages of treatment including monitoring ultrasound scans will also be provided locally through Spire Thames Valley Hospital.

Any subsequent HFEA-licensed treatment (including egg collection, embryology, semen preparation, insemination, embryo transfer, sperm and egg donation treatment, and cryopreservation of gametes and embryos) will then be performed at London Fertility Centre, 53 Portland Place, London, W1B 1QJ.

Our fertility tests and treatments

Fertility testing

As part of Spire Fertility we offer comprehensive fertility tests for both men and women.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

IVF treatment (IVF) involves the fertilisation of a women's eggs in a laboratory, before placing the resulting embryo into the uterus. IVF treatment is available at Spire Thames Valley Hospital in conjunction with the London Fertility Centre and Spire Fertility.

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is like IVF treatment, except that a single sperm is selected and injected directly into each egg. Again, fertilised eggs are then transferred back into the uterus. ICSI means fertilisation is possible even with semen samples that have a very low sperm count.

Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) with Ovulation Induction (OI)

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves the placing of pre-selected sperm into the woman’s womb close to the time of ovulation when the egg is released from the ovary. The woman will be given a course of drugs to stimulate the production of eggs. We carry out this procedure at the London Fertility Centre.

Sperm donation

We can also offer a sperm donation service for couples or individuals who wish to use donor gametes for fertility treatment. This service takes place at the London Fertility Centre.

Semen Analysis

Miss Claire Mooney, Consultant Embyologist will be running a semen analysis clinic on Wednesday evenings (between 5pm and 9pm) and Saturdays (between 9am and 5pm). Results are available within 24 hours.
