The One Stop Prostate Clinic at Spire Sussex Hospital in Hastings is for men who have concerns about prostate disease, whether or not they have any symptoms. We offer fast access to diagnostic tests and, where needed, a prostate biopsy can be offered with results available within a week.
Fifty percent of all men over the age of 60 will develop an enlarged prostate and by the time they reach their seventies or eighties this figure will rise to 80 percent.
Symptoms can include:
- difficulty in starting to pass urine
- a weak stream
- the need to strain to pass urine
- the feeling that the bladder isn't empty after urination
- the need to pass urine urgently
- frequent trips to the toilet, including having to get up several times in the night
- a burning sensation or pain when passing urine
Early screening and diagnosis is important for the successful treatment of prostate cancer, and to ensure the best possible outcome.
If you are diagnosed with prostate cancer, Spire Sussex Hospital can offer treatment choices, including non-surgical options, and plenty of time to discuss these with their consultant urologist.
If you already know you have a raised PSA level, we can book you in for an assessment and, if you can bring your PSA test results with you, we won’t need to repeat the test.
We can also offer a PSA test and this does not commit you to further tests or treatment with us, the results will usually take 2 days.
A GP referral will be required before we can make an appointment for you.
