Physiotherapy at Spire Sussex Hospital

Our aim at the Spire Sussex Hospital Physiotherapy Department is to provide a high standard of care and rehabilitation in order to aid your recovery from injury or surgery.

Our highly skilled specialist physiotherapists offer a wealth of expertise in all fields of physiotherapy

Our highly skilled specialist physiotherapists are HPC and CSP registered and offer a wealth of clinical experience and expertise in all fields of physiotherapy. We use evidence-based techniques and provide individual, tailored programmes specific to each person’s needs and requirements.

Physiotherapy uses a wide range of physical treatments such as exercise and manipulation to facilitate movement and function in the body and is useful in the treatment of recent acute injuries, as well as long term, more chronic conditions.

We work closely with all of our Hospital Consultants, who are leaders in their chosen fields - both privately and within the NHS, in most cases. Should the need occur, or we feel that further investigations are necessary for a patient; we will gladly refer you to an appropriate Consultant for a more specialised opinion.

How to make an appointment

You can be referred for physiotherapy treatment by your GP or hospital consultant. You will need a doctor’s referral if you are covered by insurance. Alternatively you can self-refer. If you wish to know more about cost of treatment, please contact our department directly on 01424 757491 and we will be happy to advise you.

Your appointments

At your first appointment a detailed history will be taken, followed by a thorough assessment of your condition. Then a personalised treatment plan will be agreed with you to help you return to normal life and function as soon as possible.

In planning for your visit you need to allow 45 minutes for your initial visit and up to 30 minutes for subsequent visits. We use clinical outcome measure questionnaires to evaluate your progress. Please can you arrive 10 minutes before your first appointment to allow time to complete these.

Unless you advise otherwise, we will liaise with your GP and or Consultant and provide a discharge summary at the end of treatment.

We can also refer you to a consultant who can arrange further investigations (such as x-ray or scans) should you require these.
