That is why Spire St Saviour's Hospital offers a weight loss surgery service tailored to you by our experienced bariatric (weight loss) surgeons in our safe, clean private hospital. At Spire St Saviour's Hospital we currently provide Gastric Band surgery for patients with a BMI of over 40 (someone with additional health issues may be considered with a BMI of 35) and up to a BMI of 50. Ms Victoria Shorland, Nutritional Therapist is part of our multi disciplinary team and is able to provide support and advice to patients with a BMI of over 50 who are considering surgery as an option. Free Initial Consultation
To help you decide if weight loss surgery is right for you we offer a free consultation with one of our nursing team followed by a short consultation with a weight loss surgeon. To assist us in this process, prior to this consultation we will ask you to complete a short questionnaire. This consultation will allow you time to ask questions about the procedure, recovery time and how our follow up programme of support works. Prior to Surgery - Assessment
Following your free consultation, if you feel you wish to take the next steps then you will be seen by each member of our multi-disciplinary team. The cost of this assessment is currently £700. At Spire St Saviour's Hospital the multi-disciplinary team will fully assess you to see if you are suitable for surgery. Part of this process includes dietary and lifestyle change advice from Ms Victoria Shorland a Nutritional Therapist to prepare you for surgery. Surgery is not suitable for all patients and after speaking to the specialist team some decide not to proceed to Gastric Banding. However, if you are suitable and the specialist team agree, then a pre-operation dietary plan is agreed along with your date for surgery. The multi-disciplinary team is lead by our experienced Consultant General and Bariatric Surgeon Mr Sanjoy Basu.
Surgery - Gastric Banding

Post Surgery - Ongoing support and advice
Our experienced team of weight-loss surgeons, dietician, physician and psychiatrist can also provide you with all the information you need to make the right treatment choice for you. They will also provide full follow up support following surgery. This will include band fills, consultations, dietary advice and access to a bariatric support group run by previous bariatric (weight loss) patients for a 12 month period following surgery.
