Spire St Anthony's Hospital has specialised in cardiac surgery since 1975 and provides a full range of treatments for heart conditions including diagnostic investigations and interventional cardiac procedures. Our consultants perform complex heart surgery and procedures for the majority of heart conditions. With an intensive care unit (Critical Care Level 3) on-site, we are able to perform complex heart surgery and procedures for the majority of heart conditions.

Our heart specialists specialise in the following areas:

Non-invasive cardiology

  • Ambulatory heart rate monitoring (24 hour, 72 hour, 1 week, 2 week)
  • Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
  • Exercise tolerance testing
  • Implantable device checks (internal loop recorders, pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular devices - both in clinic and remotely)
  • Transthoracic echo, stress echo, contrast echo, bubble echo, Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy (CRT) optimisation and 3D echo

Invasive cardiology

  • Cardiac catheterisation (angiogram, angioplasty/PTCA, FFR, Intra-aortic Balloon Pump)
  • Electrophysiology (diagnostic and ablation procedures using RF ablation, cryotherapy and 3D mapping)
  • Implantable devices (internal loop recorders, pacemakers, defibrillators and biventricular devices) 
  • TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation)
  • TOE (Transoesophageal Echocardiogram) 

Cardiothoracic surgery

  • ASD closures
  • CABG off pump (OPCABG) as well as on bypass
  • Minimally invasive mitral valve repair
  • Mitral procedures, both replacements and repairs
  • Myomectomy (for treatment of Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM))
  • Pulmonary vein isolation (PVI) and cryoablation surgery for the treatment of AF, this is also associated with left atrial appendectomy 
  • Repair of the coarctation of the aorta 
  • Replacement of ascending aorta for aneurysm
  • Tricuspid valve repair (TVR) 
  • Valve sparing aortic root replacements
