Dr Steve Hyer has been a consultant in general (internal) medicine, diabetes and endocrinology at St Helier Hospital since 1994.
His specialist interests are in all complications of diabetes particularly the problem of diabetes in pregnancy, and also thyroid disease. He attends the weekly multi-disciplinary thyroid clinic at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
Dr Steve Hyer graduated in medicine from University College Hospital in London with MB BS (Hons).
His specialist training was at Hammersmith Hospital where he obtained his MD (University of London, 1990) and St George's Hospital, London.
Since obtaining an MBA (Hons) (University of Surrey, 1996), Dr Steve Hyer has held various management positions and is currently clinical director (Specialty Medicine) and director of research and development in the Trust. He also graduated MA (Bioethics) (Hons) in 2006 (University of Surrey). He remains active in clinical research.

All adult endocrine disorders (including adrenal, thyroid, pituitary and gonadal disease).
