Nine staff and their family members from Spire St Anthony’s Hospital, Cheam, Surrey, are taking part in a fundraising bike ride in aid of St Raphael’s Hospice on Sunday 14 June 2015.
The Spire St Anthony’s in-spire-ational team will be embarking on a 70 mile cycling ride, starting from Spire Portsmouth Hospital and finishing at Spire St Anthony’s Hospital, Cheam, Surrey, with Rob Roger, CEO of Spire Healthcare, who is supporting several sponsored bike rides for charity between different Spire hospitals throughout the UK.
James Ripley, deputy pathology manager at Spire St Anthony’s Hospital and team leader for the bike ride, says: “I‘ve been busy recruiting volunteers to join me on our ride and raise money for St Raphael’s Hospice. The hospice is next to our hospital in Cheam and every year it treats over 1,000 patients and supports their friends and family through a range of services. This costs £5 million a year, of which £4 million has to be found through fundraising.”
Emily Nicholls, community fundraiser at St Raphael’s Hospice, says: “We are delighted that staff from Spire St Anthony’s Hospital are taking part in this fundraising bike ride and encourage all our supporters to take part too.”
The event will be marked with a celebration at Spire St Anthony's Hospital. For further information please contact Nicola Blackman, Events Co-ordinator on email@example.com
