I am an established Consultant ENT Surgeon with over 20 years experience in NHS and private practice at Spire London East Hospital, Redbridge, Essex. I have a specialist ENT practice in the independent sector with a wide referral base and work with with my team (audiologist, audiological scientist, vestibular therapist) in the treatment of ear (otological) conditions in adults and children. I also lead a multidisciplinary clinic in the management of voice disorders and have developed a special interest in treating conditions affecting the nose and sinuses. As a senior consultant I have set very high standards of care delivered with compassion, tailored individually with a thorough assessment and clear explanations.
I specialise in treating otological (ear) conditions for both adults and children and deal with a number of referrals regionally from primary care colleagues and other ENT consultants for the management of complex otological diseases. This includes assessment and treatment including surgical management of hearing loss, eg stapedectomy for otosclerosis, ossiculoplasty, bone anchored hearing aids and surgery for cholesteatoma. I have extensive experience in the surgical management of sinus disease and surgical treatment with functional endoscopic sinus surgery. I also have a particular interest in management of voice disorders and run multidisciplinary voice clinics at Whipps Cross University Hospital and in the independent sector. I have carried out a number of laryngeal framework procedures to improve vocal function.
Over a 20 year period I have performed over 1,500 complex ear procedures (treatment for perforated ear drums, removal of cholesteatoma and mastoid surgery, implants for improvement in hearing), over 2,000 endoscopic sinus surgery and related rhinological (nasal) procedures, and a vast number of laryngeal procedures for diagnosis and improvement of voice and laryngeal function. Outpatient procedures performed (more than 1,500 per year) include ear microscopy, hearing test including pure tone audiogram (air conduction), tympanometry and stapedial reflex studies, sinus endoscopy, aural toilet- including microsuction, oto-endoscopy, endoscopic laryngo-pharyngoscopy and stroboscopic assessment of the larynx.
I have been the Associate Director of Medical Education (2009) and Royal College Surgical Tutor at Whipps Cross University Hospital since 2010. I have recently (2015) been appointed by London Deanery/UCLP to a senior educational leadership position as Training Programme Director (Core Surgery) for London. I have a pivotal role in educational leadership as Training Progamme Director for core surgeons in London and Associate Director for Medical Education.
In addition to my clinical work I am a honorary senior clinical lecturer at Barts and the London Medical School and teach medical students. I am also involved in postgraduate education, teaching and training and am part of the faculty and course tutor/organiser of many postgraduate courses in otolaryngology in the UK and abroad.
In recognition of my contribution to the specialty I was awarded the Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2007. I have been fortunate to be invited as a key note and guest speaker at a number of international conferences.
I completed my Master of Surgery in Otolaryngology at King Edward Memorial Hospital, Bombay and my higher surgical training in the United Kingdom, during which I worked at centres of excellence including, Institute of Laryngology and Otology, Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for children. I was fortunate to win numerous academic prizes during my undergraduate and postgraduate years including the prestigious Royal College Travelling Fellowship and YCOHNS Registrars Prize for Innovation during my residency. I also won recognition for my academic, clinical excellence and educational contributions as a consultant and the TWJ Travelling Fellowship for consultants.

Personal profile
I enjoy nature and wildlife photography; still quite an amateur photographer though improving with every assignment! I like to spend time with family (wife and two teenage children), all of us are fond of scenic train journeys and at home we sometimes have a game of Scrabble with relaxing music. I used to be in the school cricket team, but now enjoy the game as a spectator.
