I have worked as an Occupational Therapist since 1993 and have been part of Spire Parkway for over 16 years. I have extensive experience from my NHS years prior to joining Parkway including Trauma and Orthopaedics, Rheumatology, Burns and Plastics, Neurology.

I have also worked privately specialising in both adults and children with additional needs ranging from acquired brain injury to children with fine motor problems. I specialise in bespoke splinting, both dynamic and static and work closely as a multidisciplinary team with the physiotherapist and hand surgeons. I have an interest in Rheumatology, including joint protection techniques and self-management strategies.

As an Occupational Therapist, I like to think that I consider a person as a whole, using a client centred approach.

I have an active role in the pre-operative assessments of clients and work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe admission and discharge home. This includes patients with complex needs, supporting people with additional needs ensuring equity and implementation of reasonable adjustments, ensuring good practice.

Occupational therapy

I love my work as an Occupational Therapist, the challenge and complexities, but also understanding the smallest of things can make a dramatic difference to a persons life. A gadget or a splint can enable someone to play the guitar or ease the pain of day to day activities. I try to play tennis and pretend I am fit by attending the gym. As well as my interest in hands and brains (after all they work together!) I help with a local charity to promote understanding of Autism. My biggest challenge of course is bringing up two teenage children.
