Mrs Davidson undertook medical training in Oxford and later returned to do her DPhil research into the genetic basis of hand deformities. She underwent a full training in plastic surgery in Bristol, Oxford and London.
From an early stage, Mrs Davidson concentrated on hand surgery and to this end she did a hand fellowship in the Windsor Hand Clinic. During her first consultant post as a plastic surgeon in the Canniesburn Unit of Glasgow Royal Infirmary she had a major interest in hand surgery. In 2005 Mrs Davidson was appointed lead hand consultant of the Regional Hand Service in St John's Hospital, and since then, to her delight, her entire practice has consisted of hand and wrist surgery. In her NHS post, she covers all aspects of hand/wrist pathology and trauma. Mrs Davidson's private practice covers the same.
