After graduating from University of Edinburgh Medical School, Mr Gaston undertook surgical training in Edinburgh, followed by Orthopaedic training in Oxford and Edinburgh.
He completed his training with Specialist Fellowships in Brisbane, Australia and Edinburgh, and was then appointed as a Consultant in the Arthroplasty Service in Edinburgh.
Mr Gaston's practice mainly involves hip and knee surgery with an interest in young adult hip joint pain. He is one of only a few surgeons that offer hip arthroscopy. Since becoming a consultant he has developed an interest in Young Adult Hip Disorders, many of whom do not need joint replacement and have a condition called Femoro-Acetabular (Hip) Impingement (FAI). He is now able to offer Open and Arthroscopic Hip Surgery for the management of this problem. Over the last 10 years Mr Gaston has worked with Dr John Wilson, Anaesthetist.
Originally from Northern Ireland, he lives in Edinburgh with his wife and three daughters. His interests include rugby and cycling to keep fit.
