I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises exclusively in adult foot and ankle disorders and sports injuries. I currently offer foot and ankle consultations, advice and surgery following referrals from a wide variety of premiership football teams, super league rugby teams and a local rugby union team.

I gained my specialist training in Manchester before completing an International Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Fellowship in Canada. During my training I won both the Sanofi Synthelabo Travelling Fellowship prize in 2002 and the British Orthopaedic Foot Surgery Society Travelling Fellowship Prize in 2003. I am a keen researcher and have published articles on ankle and big toe joint replacement surgery, day case forefoot surgery, trauma foot surgery and the role of PRP in plantar fasciitis. I regularly present as Faculty Member at regional, national and international meetings. My current areas of research include the clinical outcome of ankle replacements, treatment options for failed bunion surgery and newer treatment outcomes for chronic Achilles tendinopathy.

I am PROMS (Patient Related Outcome Measure Score) Lead at my NHS Trust in foot and ankle, and also the senior foot and ankle specialist at the Trust. I am an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Salford. I am a keen teacher, a faculty member on the BMSc course at the University of Dundee, a faculty member on the orthopaedic course at the University of Salford and serve as an elected member of the Scientific Committee for the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS). I am a specialist adviser to NICE for the interventional procedures programme and a member of the International Advisory Board and Editorial committee for the specialist medical journal ‘The Foot’.
